Cheshire Cat, also called Mouth or Cheshire Cat Poser, is a minor character in Serial Experiments Lain. He appears only in the episode Layer Layer 06.
It's a netizen that Lain meets in The Wired, he seems to have connection with important people. Like most of the users manifesting in the Wired, Cheshire Cat can't manifest his whole body, he only takes the form of a giant grinning mouth floating around.
His name comes from Lain herself who calls him a "Stupid Cheshire Cat Wannabe".
As a minor character, Cheshire Cat doesn't have much of a story. He helped Lain to know more about the KIDS project, presenting her Professor Hodgeson and he commented about how powerful Lain is to be able to manifest herself entirely.
He finishes most of his sentences with a shady laugh.
